Understanding the pricing structure

Updated this week

Confused about Unit Cost, SRP, and Profit? Here's everything you need to know about how Branvas pricing works and how to set your prices.

The Three Numbers You'll See

When you browse products in Branvas, you'll see three prices:

1. Unit Cost

What it is: The amount you pay Branvas per item
Example: $15.6

This covers:

  • The jewelry piece itself

  • Quality control and inspection

2. SRP (Suggested Retail Price)

What it is: Our recommended selling price based on market research
Example: $39.00

This is just a suggestion. You have complete freedom to set your own retail prices.

3. Profit

What it is: The difference between SRP and Unit Cost
Example: $39.00 - $15.6 = $23.4 (60% margin)

This is your potential profit if you use our suggested retail price.

How It Works: Simple Example

Price Type

Amount

Who Gets It

Your customer pays

$39.00

You receive this

You pay Branvas (Unit Cost)

$15.6

Branvas receives this

Your profit

$23.4

You keep this

Plus shipping (see below)

Shipping Costs

Flat rate: $8.99 per order (regardless of destination or number of items)

This covers:

  • Packaging and branded materials

  • Shipping anywhere worldwide

  • Tracking number

How to Handle Shipping in Your Store

Option 1: Charge customers shipping

  • Set shipping rate at $8.99 in your Shopify store

  • Customer pays shipping separately

  • Your margins stay as calculated

Option 2: Offer "free shipping"

  • Build $8.99 into your product prices

  • Example: Sell necklace at $27.99 instead of $19.00

  • Advertise as "Free Shipping"

  • Your profit stays the same: $27.99 - $9.36 - $8.99 = $9.64

Option 3: Free shipping threshold

  • Charge shipping on orders under $75

  • Offer free shipping on orders $75+

  • Encourage larger orders

Additional Fees

Processing Fee: 2.9%

What it is: Standard credit card processing fee
Charged by: Stripe (our payment processor)
Applied to: Total amount you pay Branvas (Unit Cost + Shipping)

Payment Flow

When Your Customer Orders

  1. Customer pays you: $39.00 (example) via your Shopify store

  2. You receive: $39.00 in your Shopify account (minus Shopify fees)

  3. You pay Branvas: $15.6 (Unit Cost) + $8.99 (shipping) + 2.9% processing

  4. You keep: The difference as profit

Important: You only pay Branvas after your customer has paid you. No upfront inventory costs.

Auto-Fulfillment Option

Turn on "Auto-Fulfillment" in your Branvas dashboard to:

  • Automatically charge your card when orders come in

  • Skip manual payment for each order

  • Speed up fulfillment process

Recommended for consistent operations and meeting your selling platform's shipping requirements.

Common Pricing Questions

Can I charge whatever I want?

Yes. You have complete freedom to set retail prices in your store.

Should I follow your SRP?

It's recommended but optional. Our SRP is based on market research, but your brand positioning may justify higher (or lower) prices.

Do I pay Branvas upfront?

No. You only pay after your customer has paid you. No inventory costs.

Can I offer discounts or promotions?

Yes. Run sales in your store anytime. Your Unit Cost stays the same - you just keep less profit during promotions.

What if I want to wholesale or bulk order?

Contact us at [email protected]. We can discuss wholesale pricing for large volume orders with MOQ requirements.

How do I make shipping profitable?

Option 1: Charge customers $8.99+ for shipping
Option 2: Build cost into product prices
Option 3: Offer free shipping only on orders above a threshold

Tips for Profitable Pricing

Test different price points: Start with SRP, then adjust based on sales data

Bundle products: Offer sets at slight discount to increase order value

Use shipping thresholds: "Free shipping on orders $75+" encourages larger purchases

Consider psychological pricing: $19.99 often performs better than $20.00

Factor in ALL costs: Marketing, your time, customer service, returns

Premium = premium packaging: Higher prices work better with VIP tier's enhanced branding
