Selling into the EU: GPSR responsible person, product testing and VAT

What Branvas can and cannot provide for EU compliance, and who holds the responsible-person role when you sell under your own brand.

If you sell Branvas products into the EU under your own brand, you are the economic operator / EU Responsible Person for those products. Branvas is a U.S. company and does not hold that role on your behalf.

Why the role sits with you

In a white-label setup, the product reaches the EU market under your brand and you are the party importing it. Under GPSR that makes you the responsible economic operator for the products you list.

If you would rather not hold the role yourself, some brands appoint a third-party EU Authorised Representative service to hold it for them. That is a decision for you to make and arrange directly with the provider.

Material testing and REACH documentation

Branvas does not hold blanket REACH or material-test reports covering the whole catalog. In this industry, testing for nickel, lead and cadmium is done per SKU, and each report is tied to that specific item's images and details — so a report for one ring says nothing about another.

If you need documentation:

  • Tell support which specific SKUs you plan to list.

  • Testing can be arranged for those items so you receive the REACH documentation.

  • The testing cost is paid by you, the seller.

Email [email protected] with your SKU list to start. Turnaround depends on the lab and the items, so ask for a timeline when you request it. Please do not describe products as hypoallergenic, nickel-free or lead-free in your marketing unless you hold test reports that say so.

VAT registration

Branvas does not register or file VAT for you. A VAT number is obtained through your own national tax authority in the country where you are registering (for example the Agenzia delle Entrate in Italy). Your accountant is the right person to confirm which registrations your sales volume and destination countries require.

Questions we cannot answer for you

IOSS registration and the EU's low-value import rules depend on your own business setup and where you are established, and we do not give tax advice on them. Speak to your accountant or your local tax authority. For anything Branvas-side that this article does not cover, contact [email protected].
